Bookclub is Radio 4’s monthly literary discussion programme: James Naughtie and a studio audience of readers put their questions to an author about one of their own books. It’s a separate programme from the Radio 2 Book Club, which trips a lot of searches up.

About Bookclub
Bookclub has run on Radio 4 since 1998, and each episode is a genuine author interview built around listener questions rather than a critics’ panel — it’s usually one book a month, discussed in real depth.

Frequently asked questions
What is the latest book on BBC Radio 4’s Bookclub?
The most recent Bookclub pick we’ve logged is above, with broadcast date, ISBN and an Amazon UK link. Bookclub airs monthly — James Naughtie and a group of readers question an author about one of their own books.
Is Radio 4 Bookclub the same as the Radio 2 Book Club?
No — they’re different programmes. Radio 4’s Bookclub is the long-running James Naughtie author-interview strand; Radio 2 has its own, separate book club.
How often does a new Bookclub pick air?
Monthly. We also keep a dedicated printable PDF of every Bookclub pick, linked from the main Books on BBC Radio 4 page.
