Lots happening this weekend so just a few highlights to give you some ideas.
Why not visit Southwold this Saturday there’s always lots to see and it’s lovely to get some fresh air after a busy week. When I visit Southwold I usually call in at the Black Olive Delicatessen on the high street. This Saturday they are holding a special pork pie event when you’ll be able to taste samples and hear all about them from Sarah Pettegree of Brays Cottage Pork Pies. Why not stock up with lots of tasty treats while you are there for a big family Saturday night in.
On Saturday night it’s the last in the current run of Doctor Who on BBC1 with an episode called ‘The name of the Doctor”, so if you have a Doctor Who fan in the house you’ll want to make sure you don’t miss it. Doctor Who then returns in November with a special 50th anniversary episode.
Also on Saturday evening it’s the Eurovision song contest. Try turning it into a family event and have some fun trying to guess who will win it and guess how the voting will go. This has become a bit of a family tradition for us.
In Norwich there’s a chance to explorer the Bishops Garden for the Garden Open Day. This is one of Norwich’s hidden secrets the Bishop’s Garden occupies 4 acres in the city centre. The garden dates back to around 1100 AD when Bishop de Losinga began to build the cathedral and palace. From the garden you can see the original detailing of Norman stonework on the North Transept of the cathedral which is only visible from the Bishops Garden.
Finally if you haven’t already seen it I can highly recommend the new Star Trek film. If you’re not a trekkie you’ll still enjoy it as an action film with a good story. If you’re a life long trekkie you’ll really love this with all the references to previous films and the TV series. I’d say it’s worth seeing while it’s on the big screen. If the weather is bad this weekend probably a good place to take 12+ family for a few hours.
If you are planning an event do let me know and if I like it I’ll try and give it a mention in the blog for next weekend.
