What to expect on a family visit
Plan for a half-day to a full day depending on the timetable. A return ticket between Sheringham and Holt with a stop at Weybourne is the classic outing — you can get off at Weybourne for the Muckleburgh military collection (one of the railway’s stops) or at Holt for the town and the Owl Tea Rooms. Pre-booking in school holidays is sensible. Check the website for which days are steam-hauled — diesel days operate off-peak and feel quite different. Both Sheringham and Holt stations have refreshment rooms, with Weybourne worth a stop for the original 1900s buffet.
