We were not sure how our two young children would cope with a hotel during a weekend away so we thought we’d test them. In the process we discovered a way to have a great value family weekend away. We looked at all sorts of hotels but in the end opted for a Premier Travel Inn just outside Kings Lynn
We were able to book a family room for myself, my husband and two children for just £29 on a Sunday night + a full English for my husband £8.75 and a continental breakfast for me for £6.25. Under 16’s stay for free and get a free breakfast. We were really pleased to find that the staff had put a good quality cot in our room for our toddler.
The hotel room was lovely and clean and of a good size. I’ve certainly stayed in hotels that claim to be 4 star that haven’t been up to this standard. We had a large double bed, the sofa was turned into a bed for my son and the cot slotted in nicely in the corner. We were pleased with the quality of the bed linen, plentiful supply of towels, tea/coffee making facility and the general comfort of the beds and pillows.
We had an evening meal in the attached Brewers Fayer which had a good indoor play area for young children. The food was good value, well prepared and there were some healthy choices on the menu for the grown-ups and they have a separate children’s menu which was good value. This is typical of the set-up you’ll find at Premier Inn across the country in their 600+ hotels.
We didn’t see it when we were there but while researching this blog I noticed on their website that when you stay with children you should be offered exclusive access to “Premier Inn Days Out” which should give you discounted entry, generally 2-for-1 or Kids go free, to over 800 top visitor attractions across the UK. They also have free kids packs for children, containing a mini story book, activity book, colouring sheet, pencils and competitions.
In our case this Premier Inn hotel was a great location to allow us to explore King’s Lynn, Sandringham House, Norfolk Lavender and Hunstanton.
Our two young children found the whole night away from home experience a great adventure. My son also loved the indoor play area in the Brewers Fayer and the “All you can eat” breakfast in the morning. Really incredible value if you can catch one of their weekend rooms at just £29. Also look out for special deals at the Brewers Fayer as they often seem to do 2 for 1 meal deals.
Let me know how you get on and where you stay.
Why not visit the Premier Inn website and have a look and see if they’ve got a hotel near an attraction you want to visit one weekend.
