I hope you’ve had a good weekend…. if you’ve been somewhere great, cooked something great, enjoyed some great wine or anything else you’d really recommend then I’d love to hear from you.

I’ve had a busy weekend as we had the whole family over for Sunday lunch.  I cooked some great pork loin, with honey, garlic, rosemary and ginger and seasonal vegetables.  After lunch I managed to sit down for a little while with a cup of coffee and then more work clearing a couple of rooms for carpet fitting on Monday.  I’ve now finished getting the rest of the family ready for work tomorrow and just sitting down to relax.

I see that today Food Programme on Radio 4 is getting lots of good feedback on Twitter this evening.  I normally listen to it while cooking Sunday lunch but with everyone around and in my kitchen this morning I missed it, so will catch up using iPlayer this evening.

In this blog I’m going to include hotel reviews.  Well, when I say reviews may be I should say Hotel Recommendations. I’ve no intention of ever writing a review of a bad hotel, I simply won’t write about it.  I use sites like Trip Advisor and Laterooms but I’m never entirely sure how to read the reviews.  People differ and what one person thinks is good another person will hate, others seem to be very picky about things which don’t matter while other reviews sound like they were written by the hotel manager.   I won’t write about anywhere I or a member of my family haven’t stayed and enjoyed.

Over the next few days I’m working on our first two hotel reviews (recommendations) and considering what makes a hotel good.  It’s certainly not all about star rating.  I’ve equally enjoyed stays in 2 star, 3 star and 4 star hotels.  I suppose it’s primarily important that they are honest and do what they say they do well, with good service and leave me with a sense having got good value and what I paid for.

Anyway back to working on the hotel recommendations and I do hope you enjoy the last few hours of the weekend.
