A lovely family day out in Southwold on the Suffolk Coast.

Southward Beach looking towards the town

We had a lovely day out today in Southwold.  We parked at the pier just before midday and had a fish and chip lunch in the Beach Café at the top of the pier.  They do a good quality childs menu. Our children had the children fish and chips. The fish was nice and fresh, well cooked in a nice crispy batter. On the first Saturday of each month they do gluten free fish and chips.

After lunch we enjoyed a walk down the pier and took in the view of Southwold.

We then had a slow walk back to the car and then drove down to the harbour car park.  The children had a quick ice-cream followed by a walk down the beach.

Finally to finish the day off we headed back into the town and had coffee and cakes at the Adnams Kitchen store.

Southward is hard to beat for a relaxing day out at the seaside with the family – young or old.

The youngsters will also enjoy spotting some of the locations used in the BBC TV Programme Grandpa in My Pocket.

Southwold on the Suffolk Coast & the simple pleasures of life…

June 5, 2014 by siteadmin Leave a Comment

Life is really busy and it’s great to take pleasure in the simple things whenever you get a chance.  Currently one of my favourite things is to drive down to the harbour car park in Southwold park up and get a coffee at the harbour kiosk.

They do a really good cup of freshly ground coffee and sell lovely slices of fresh homemade fruit cake, or for the children there’s lovely ice-cream.

You can sit and enjoy a few minutes piece and quiet with your coffee and enjoy the view out from Southwold over the harbour and across the the sandy beach at Walberswick.

When you are done enjoy a nice walk on the beach or take the walk down the river wall and over the foot bridge and get some lunch in Walberswick.

Also while you are in Southwold why not drop into Adnams Cellar and Kitchen store and enjoy their lovely cafe
